Severe allegations of animal cruelty have Michael Vick, an NFL superstar, in serious legal trouble. Investigations have revealed harsh treatment of mostly pit bulls on Vick's property, including dogs being electrocuted, hung, shot at, and worse. The details are just horrifying. Moreover, Vick is allegedly heavily involved in an underground dog fighting world most of us could never imagine existing.
Several Animal Activists groups, such as HSUS, are petitioning companies like Nike, which have endorsement contracts with Vick to cancel them. The AJC in Atlanta reports that PETA protested Vick's suspension and removal from the NFL. The picture above shows just one of confiscated dogs. This dog's heart-breaking face is cut up, sore, and raw from the abuse he faced while involved in this dog fighting ring.
It makes us sick to even think that people can be so barbaric and encourage dogs to fight to their death. If convicted of illegal dogfighting, a felony charge, Vick could face 4 to 6 years in prison and over a $350k fine. He helped torture animals, bashed dogs heads, and watched as they attacked each other until one was proclaimed a winner. What a disgusting role model.
If you suspect dog fighting, please contact your local authorities or the Humane Society of The United States.
